In 1869, the first Japanese immigrants arrived in Seattle and started to build their community. In 1930, about 8,500 Japanese and Japanese-Americans lived in this neighborhood. The buildings and shops still remain and you can explore the history of Japantown (Nihonmachi), Seattle!
